No More Strikes

By Black Mampara (Edwin Msipa)

Our lads have other thoughts,
Yet an artist's mind finds its feet in the turmoil,
Paints several pictures of boycotts,
Of children and women falling prey to unscrupulous elements,
Of school children missing their New Curriculum,
Of fat women missing their Butter-spread breadpieces,
Of guzzlers who eagerly waits for the off day to take gulps of Chibuku*,
The artist marches on to the forefront
Mingles with them,
Reads their minds,
And his/her art media takes action,
Like a Paparazzi, the artist forks out his notebook and pen,
A social commentator he is,
Rebukes bad actions,
Praises the positive moves,
Boycotts all the hullabaloo,
And votes for unity calls
Even in sleep the artist dreams big;
A united country dances in his night vision,
Leaders sharing a cup of Masese* paints his midnight shift
Parties watching Liverpool bashing Barca in the same pub.
Surely Zimbabwe is one!
Let the spirit of love reign,
Shall our hands shake,
And shall we hug not only our immediate allies but all.
